What customers say?

“ To be honest, I approached with skepticism.. did not have a very good experience at Ya Wang.. and read some meh reviews about this place. Nevertheless, I overcame the temptation of Teck Sing (just opposite), and gave this a try on a weekday lunch (~2pm+). Restaurant was at 20% capacity, got a table immediately, food came quickly too. I had a 1/4 duck (lower), sambal kangkong and sweet & sour pork @ weekday lunch portion/ prices. The duck was better than expected, very tender and skin was perfect. Not sure why there were criticisms of their duck being short of tangui/ herbal flavors. Sweet & sour pork was also very competent, likewise the sambal kangkong. The environment is nice, slightly 'off brand' from the neighborhood :) Like it! ”

“ Went to have lunch on a Sunday at around 2.30pm and there was still quite a number of tables occupied. We ordered chai poh tofu, 1/4 danggui duck, stir fry kang kong and a bowl of soup. The food was alright. The taste of the danggui is not as strong as Dian Xiao Er, which might be more acceptable for some tastebuds. Out of the four dishes, I enjoyed the tofu the best. ”

“ Ordered a half dan gui duck, yam ring, and nan bai. I find the duck pretty soft and flavourful. But my parents find the meat slightly tougher (especially when it starts turning cold) and being elderly, they find it harder to chew. So i guess up to individual tastes or preferences here. However, the yam ring was the star to me. Their sauce goes well with the fried yam ring, making it a savoury treat. Nan bai was as expected so nothing to shout about. Services can be better though, not very attentive. Or maybe its the language barrier, most of their staff are from other Asean countries so not very well versed in chinese. Nonetheless, the dishes were decent and the prices add up to only 104 myr for 3 pax, pretty reasonable given the currency exchange rate. ”

“ Booked for 10 pax and was given the private room. Some of the outstanding dishes were the chai po tofu, salted egg lotus root and obviously the duck (we ordered both braised and tang gui). Dong po rou can be softer though and the brinjal didn’t have the wok hei either. Think they wasnt attentive and was short staff too. But overall would definitely come back again to try other dishes since my relatives approved! ”

“ Lunch at Ah Yit Imperial was a pleasant experience for our family. The food quality is still up to standard, which is always reassuring, and the roast duck was the highlight of the meal. The duck skin was crispy and well roasted, while the meat remained tender and flavourful. All the dishes were served hot and tasted consistent with what we remembered, making it an enjoyable and satisfying lunch overall. My whole family loved the food and finished everything happily. The iced latte, however, was just so-so and didn’t stand out compared to the food. Still, it was a good family lunch and will revisit again for their roast duck ”

“ It's a hidden gem if you are looking for good roasted duck and char siew. Didn't managed to get their char siew as it was sold out at 7.30pm.. yes you hear me right, 7.30pm!! That's how high demand it can be on a weekend. Would definitely recommend anyone to try this out. Their beancurd, and siji dou is tasty as well! But no harm just going there to try their roasted pork and duck! ”

“ Ah Yit Imperial is a very value-for-money restaurant, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the dishes. The herbal duck, while not as rich or deeply herbal as the one from Dian Xiao Er, is still enjoyable — and given that it’s just a fraction of the price, it’s definitely worth it. The shark fin soup is also decent, with a good balance of flavor and texture. I particularly liked the stir-fried long beans, which were packed with dried shrimp, giving them a strong umami punch and fragrance. The drunken prawns, however, were a bit on the sweet side for my liking, and the prawns themselves didn’t seem particularly fresh. The clams were alright, nothing that really stood out but still tasty enough to enjoy. Overall, Ah Yit Imperial offers solid food at great prices, making it a good option for casual family meals without breaking the bank. ”
